Stream Gaging - Tethered Boat Mounted ADCP

When using a boat is not practical or possible, the ADCP is mounted on tri hull catamaran boat that is tethered with a rope to someone standing on the bridge. Streamflow measurements can be then made in a similar fashion as the boat mounted ADCPs. The major difference is that data is transmitted by radio modems through a multiplexer. Differential GPS data and the ADCP data are all sent from the tethered boat to the laptop computer on land. This is an advantage because the laptop can be located under cover for protection during harsh conditions such as heavy rains.
